Oregon Inlet Fishing Report May 11th, 2014 – Calm Seas and Big Fish

Oregon Inlet Fishing Report May 11th, 2014

Despite the Saturday night forecast of 15-20 knot winds, the offshore were calm seas and red hot action on Mothers Day.  Most crews were able to find some solid gaffer dolphin and mixed bag adding in some tuna and a few had success with early season white marlin.  Plenty of boats have been landing citation size dolphin and have plenty of opening for guests this week.

The Fight-n-Lady out of Oregon Inlet Fishing Center reports that big gaffer dolphin showed up in solid numbers from Diamond Tower to the point.  The charter boat Fishin Frenzy reports 30 gaffer dolphin were caught with a handful of jacks mixed in to the days catch.

The Oregon Inlet fishing report for the charter boat Legacy had similar success to the rest of the fleet with  extremely calm seas and nice gaffer dolphin.  the Legacy had 21 gaffer dolphin in total – even with those numbers thats a little slower day than they have had over the last week.

Point Runner out of Oregon Inlet Fishing Center found calmer seas but they grass line they have been fishing had moved and the grass wasnt lined up.  It took a little more work to find the hungry gaffer dolphin but the day was still a very good one for the crew.  Time was spent trying to hunt down some yellowfin but none were to be found.

The fishing report for Skiligal was finding scattered gaffer dolphin, catching one or two at a time – but finding a few dozen in total for the crew.  Turning back in towards shore, the Skiligal dropped their tuna spread and managed to catch 7 nice yellowfin tuna.  Ending the day was a white marlin for the captain and crew.

The crew fishing on the charter A-Salt Weapon was also successful at hooking up and landing a white marlin tuna.  Adding to the days catch was 50 gaffer dolphin .
