Not as many boats were offshore today and the fishing seemed to be a little bit lighter compared to the full on dolphin blitz that so many boats encountered Friday in to Saturday.  Yesterday the bite was softening a little and today was a little bit more of the same.  What is great news is another white marlin was caught and released and cobia were brought to the docks today.  NOAA has the 24-48 hour forecast with winds 10-15 knots tomorrow and 5-10 on Wednesday, now on to the Oregon Inlet Fishing Report! Oregon Inlet Fishing Report May 11th, 2014

Despite the Saturday night forecast of 15-20 knot winds, the offshore were calm seas and red hot action on Mothers Day.  Most crews were able to find some solid gaffer dolphin and mixed bag adding in some tuna and a few had success with early season white marlin.  Plenty of boats have been landing citation size dolphin and have plenty of opening for guests this week. Solid grass lines are being found and that is translating to very strong dolphin action, with many gaffer sized dolphin being covered in the Oregon Inlet fishing report.  The weather of the next 24-48 hours will hold consistent with 15-20 knot winds from the south west subsiding in to Monday – waves 2-4 feet in the forecast. Offshore boats are experiencing a great offshore dolphin bite as well as some mako, blackfin tuna and the occasional scattered yellowfin and some amberjacks.  Reports from further south suggest that the yellowfin tuna bite isnt that far away.  Weather for the coming weekend looks like 15-20 knot winds from the south west with waves 2-4 feet. Out of Oregon Inlet Fishing Center, Point Runner caught nice gaffer dolphin with their clients today.  The morning waters were fairly rough, but the fishing was fairly good.  Sea Breeze Sportfishing also reported solid offshore dolphin action, with many gaffer sized dolphin hitting the decks today. Fishing out of Oregon Inlet has seen some good tuna action; Point Runner out of Oregon Inlet Fishing Center has reported really good catches of blackfin tuna. Albacore and amberjacks were also caught offshore. Other boats were able to locate a few yellowfin tuna and some gaffer dolphin. Fin Planner out of Oregon Inlet Fishing Center reports that the tuna bite has become very hit or miss the last few days though the bite can pickup quickly.  Gaffer dolphin have been consistent in most recent Oregon Inlet fishing reports and has no signs of letting up.  Reports of solid offshore dolphin reports in South Carolina and southern North Carolina show favorable conditions lasting for the foreseeable future. Oregon Inlet Fishing Report May 3, 2014

Fight-n-Lady out of Oregon Inlet Fishing Center reports that fishing changed up  a little bit and that there werent quite as many bites.  Capt Sam was able to put his clients on four nice tuna and managed to land an 87 pound mako shark as well.  Additonal Oregon INlet fishing reports include Fintastic which saw good tuna fishing on Friday and a much slower tuna bit on Saturday – even though the weather was far improved.  The offshore fishing bite was filled with gaffer dolphins and mako sharks on Saturday.
